Andrea + Shane Burt

I was blessed to be able to donate to Sid Richardon’s yearly employee appreciation picnic back in June. Shane was the recipient of the gift certificate and him, his beautiful wife Andrea, and their adorable daughter Karleigh and I got together in Coahoma, TX to do their family session earlier this month.

I was so pleasantly surprised at just how beautiful Coahoma was! There was a huge barn painted like the Texas Flag – and their town really has that small town Texas feel! I loved it!!

Their daughter Karleigh is a few years older then our son Avrey (who was along for the ride on this session) and they had a blast playing tag + hide-and-go-seek while we waited patiently for the sun to go down. They also had fun smushing bugs together in the field we ended up in.

I have lived in Texas for a good while now -and am still in love with how friendly everyone is here, Andrea + Shane were no exception!

As with all my photo clients I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of the Burt Family – and I can’t wait!

Much Love!!

One Hundred Dollars

One Hundred Dollars. This is the random act of kindness that was bestowed upon our little munchkin today.

Avrey has been collecting & saving loose change from anywhere he can find it – the couch – clothes from the wash – daddy’s pockets at the end of the day – random parking lot change – ANYWHERE he can find it.

He finally decided that he wanted a police officers costume from Barnes & Nobels. It was $29.99 and he had about double that in his money jar.

So per usual – he knew he had to put 1/2 in the bank, and put aside money aside to give at church on Sunday. And the rest he could spend how he chose.

We took his money jar to the bank and have them turn it into ‘paper money’ as Avrey calls it. While we were there, there was an older gentleman in the line next to us – and he commented on how great it was that we were at the bank and how you have to ‘start them early’ – I couldn’t agree more!

We found out the hard way at this bank doesn’t have a money sorter – so we were going to have to sort the money ourselves. No big deal! The teller at the bank gave us a huge stack of empty money rolls and we stole the reception area table and went to work!

About 1/2 way into sorting the coins into their respective piles, the gentleman that we were speaking to a few moments earlier was getting ready to leave and came over to where we were sitting – he shook Avrey’s hand and told him that he wanted to give him a ‘leg up’ and handed him a One Hundred Dollar Bill! IMG_3261

Avrey immediately got the largest smile on his face (as evidenced above) and he got up and gave the gentleman a very large hug and said thank you what seemed like 50 times! I thanked the gentleman as well. Ask him his name and his was response – y’all just have fun with that!

We proceeded to finish our money rolling & finished at the bank. (putting 1/2 of the $100 in the bank as well!) Then we headed to B&N – Avrey’s eyes got very wide, as it looked as though the police officer’s uniform wasn’t there anymore – but luckily there was one left (what a great day of awesome events)

He just couldn’t wait till we got home to try it out – and we had to make a stop at the library. So if you find yourself in the vicinity of or in the library tonight – and aren’t acting right – expect a ticket  – because they came with the uniform and he’s excited to use them! IMG_3267

Xavier // Early College High School Midland, TX // Senior Rep

Xavier is a Junior at the Early College High School at Midland College in Midland, TX. This means that by the time he graduates next year he will have 60+hours of college credits under his belt! The time I was blessed to spend with Xavier was so much fun!! How many people his age do you think could weave the word “Brobdingnagian” into normal conversation?! (in case you’re wondering – it means gigantic)

We were lucky that the wind decided to die down just enough that none of us blew away that day – and we got some great shots all around Midland, TX!!! I’m really looking forward to getting to know Javier + his amazing mamma, Kat better over the next few months!

ps… who knew there were Brobdingnagian blue buildings in midland?!

Following My Heart

Today was a good day. Tonight my husband and I had one of those good heart to heart talks. Photography has been my passion since I picked up a camera in high school. I pursued it as my career for 5 years and did very well. My favorites were Newborns, Families, Children & Weddings.

Then in 2012 our circumstances as a family changed, and I wasn’t able to continue doing photography full time like I really wanted too.

Fast forward 6 years – I have been very blessed to be able to do a few photo shoots here and there, while working a job in the ‘real-world’.

So, in comes our little heart to heart tonight. I have been feeling very called to pursue my passions and that if I don’t I’ll regret it down the road. So I’m jumping back in head first and I am so excited for where it is going to take my little family!

I would be honored for you to follow along on this journey!

Stay tuned for some exciting information coming in the next few weeks!!
